New Road Safety Strategy
A new plan to reduce road deaths from the 2004-08 average by one third by the year 2020 has been produced by the Department for Transport consultation paper, which encompasses views on the visions, targets and measures that will be part of the new road safety strategy from 2010. Other challenges include reducing injuries by a third, Halving the combined total of death and injury to children, Halving the rate of road death and serious injury, to pedestrians and cyclists, protecting motorcyclists, Poor road user behaviour and Illegal and inappropriate speed.
