Interesting to recently see a report on the worsening state of the roads and how they can affect learner drivers. It reported that an estimated 1.5 million potholes exist on our roads, and that as a result, some driving instructors are having to change the routes that they would follow to avoid damaging the cars.
Some are even adding potholed roads to the routes so that learner drivers are able to learn how to deal with them. The AA estimated that last winter the icy spell of weather we had resulted in a 40% increase in road damage. Some incidents have included tyre blow-outs, driving instructors having to use the dual controls to avoid an accident after the pupil swerved to try and avoid a pothole and a driving instructor who after fininshing a driving lesson, got out of the car and stepped into a pothole, fell to the ground and was off work for 4 months with a broken leg.

There is nothing better than a drive on a nice sunny evening and driving holidays are becoming more and more popular. As the summer gets hotter people are using their cars more around the world.
Because of this, unfortunately, it means that we are using more fuel as a result. The first sign of this is the fuel prices rising as once again we can see on forecourts around the UK the price of petrol going over the pound mark yet again.
Using more fuel means that fuel and oil stocks are once again lowering.
So what can you do to stop your fuel running out and another cost of living soaring at a time when we could all do with spending less? Economic driving is a key part of conserving your fuel.
Everything from not revving the engine too much and lightening you load help use less fuel. If you take advanced driving lessons you can learn how to significantly reduce your fuel consumption.
Driver Training provides advanced driving instruction throughout the UK for experienced and newly pass drivers. We also teach all of our learner drivers the principals of economic driving as part of our standard driving lessons.

The improvement of people
As part of the initiative by the Government to reduce road deaths they are planning to bring in road speed limit reductions.
The proposals should give local government more powers to in force tighter speed limits and traffic control. With 20mph expected to be introduced in built up residential areas and especially around schools and some rural roads reduced from 60mph to 50mph.
This together with providing the police with more powers to fine for traffic offenses and stop vehicles without reason is intended to reduce risks on the roads and increase road safety awareness. Although this is already been hit with a mix of criticism by some and enthusiasm by others it may not be long before we all start to see our road speeds reduced.
Whatever the outcome Driver Training will aid and guide our student through their driving lessons and keep them up to speed with the changes in the law. For those nervous of the changes we also have pass plus that can aid you in getting up to speed with driving after your test.
Studies have shown that people learn quicker and easier in a fun friendly environment. Here at Driver Training we take this to heart. We make our lessons fun. Our instructors quickly put you at ease so that you are relaxed and confident.

Pass you
As a Driving Instructor, you get asked many strange and peplexing questions as you are driving around with your pupils.
As we were sitting in the car one day a pupil called becky went to say something about what her aunt was doing, then stopped looked at me and went quiet. When i asked what was up she said “I can’t tell you, because you are a Driving Instructors and that means you’re like a policeman!” I never did find out what her aunt was up to!!
The biggest cause of questions as Driving Instructors is when you are on a driving lesson and the pupil is coming upto there test. We have been asked
Should I wear a miniskirt?
I told him NO…..Only joking I said to her, the Driving Examiner is more likely to want you back in the car again, so more likely to fail you, if you do that.
As a company we have Driving Instructors doing driving tests all over the uk, such as Shrewsbury, Hartlepool, Workington, Ilford and Birmingham, which is a lot of strange questions being asked. All met with the same bemused driving instructors smile!
The rules of the test are simple drive as you would with your driving instructor and make sure you check the mirrors and blindspots. Remember whether you take driving lessons in Aldridge, Cannock, Sutton Coldfield or Romford, nobody fails the driving test on there driving. Everybody fails it on there observations.
