The Driving Standards Agency is now starting to test how efficient a driver is. In a bid to cut down drivers carbon footprint drivers are being taught how to be more fuel efficient. By reducing speed or reducing the need for heavy breaking drivers can reduce their petrol bill.

Getting on the road can be L-ishly costly

PETROLHEADS have more fun than other drivers because they love putting the hammer down and the sound of screaming rubber on the blacktop.

Their way of driving piles up the costs of motoring and causes accidents. And, the Avenger suspects, that a high proportion of them failed their driving test more than once.

Learning to drive is not a cheap business but for many people in Walsall it’s a must.

But before you cough up large wads of notes, consider carefully whether you do need to be able to drive.

The alternative options include bicycles, walking, skateboards and even roller-blading.

If you’re determined to learn, get some free lessons with someone you know you can trust. Choose a relative or friend who you believe drives well.

Before you take the test for real, you will need some instruction from a professional driving school. The more practice you get before you take that step, the fewer lessons you’re likely to have to take.

Talk to your mates who have recently passed their test. Quiz them about what the examiner asked and any mistakes they made.

And then get them to help you with the theory part of the test. It’s going to cost you
